P8, Peak District

Until last night we were planning to go up to the Yorkshire Dales on an OCC trip but the weather forecast for there was abysmal. So, since the forecast for home was good, we decided to remain at home and have a trip in P8.
We stopped of at Hitch'n'Hike so that Karen could buy a new Meander oversuit then after stopping off at Oxlow Farm to pick up the front valance from Pete C.'s car, (left from last weekend!) we parked at P8 car park to find Paul Cooper and friend Quentin getting changed. They were planning a trip down part of P8 using their own gear (ladder) on the first pitch. We met another couple of cavers beyond the old second pitch who were on their way out and another pair as we reached the surface.
We met Paul and Quentin on their way out at the first pitch and they let us past. After de-rigging our rope, Karen headed out with the tackle bag while I waited until Paul and Quentin were back up the first pitch before heading out myself. We stopped of at Outside at Calver Crossroads on the way home for a meal.
